Lureca Outland is a self-taught quilt maker from Boligee, Alabama, in Greene County. She was born in Eutaw, Alabama. In this quilt, the utility of the bar pattern is one of its great attractions. Outland stacked little rectangles cut from myriad fabrics to make sixteen vertical rows. Even the smallest bit of fabric can be utilized in this design; careful examination reveals some of the same fabrics she used several years earlier in her britchy quilt.
